Lies, Lies Lies! 

The media has been pushing the concept of the Garden vs the Community, regarding the “Affordable” units being created.  It has been repeated over and over again that 50% of the residential units will be “affordable”.  30% from the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) which will allow breaking of the height limits and 20% from Federal monies from HPD (87% of its money comes from Federal) and HUD.

We found out that there is NO 20% coming from Federal government. This 20% is a scam! Created by our elected officials and developer. See the letter below which came from United State Environmental Protection Agency, which states that “No Federal Funding is associated with the project [960 Franklin Ave]”.
Information Confirmed by Elected Officials

We met with two Federal elected officials who confirmed the above statement.    We met with Congresswoman Yvette Clark and a staff member of Senator Gillibrand.  Both confirmed that there are no known applications or requests pending for monies for this project.  

Only Affordable on the Table

There is only 30% affordable units on the table with this deal from the MIH program.  The developer has chosen option 2 which is called the “work force” one., where 30% will be at 115% AMI, which is ($122,000 for a family of four)!   The Crown Heights community is AMI is $40,000.  Making these apartments severe rent burden apartments, meaning they will not qualify for these apartments.

Assemblyman Walter Mosley has reneged on His Promise to Meet with Us!
We set up a meeting almost two months ago with Assemblyman Mosley to discuss his open approval of this project based upon the 50% affordable units.  We had an appointment set up for tomorrow which he has simply ignored.
