Social Invisibility
Has anyone read the famous classic book considered one of the greatest American novels “The Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, who was the first Black Man to win the National Book Award for Fiction. It explores how the American society in acts of racial discrimination and prejudice engages in “social invisibility.”
We now see that same pattern of Social Invisibility play out in the Courts, where the Mandami Adminstration, in their Environmental Assessment review, just blacked out our entire neighborhoods, made invisible the Domestic Violence shelter, the Senior Citizens Facility for Seniors with Disabilities and Chronic Illness, the Legendary Kings Theater, Supportive Housing for Mentally Ill and Chemically Addicted, and all of the schools and day cares. And once they made our entire community invisible behind a Black sheet of paper, they said they would not cause us any harm for there were no one to cause harm to.
