Another Lawsuit Filed, Another TRO Granted!
Red Roof Inn in Flatbush Shelter Cannot Be Opened!

Our Fight Just Got Stronger!

In an unprecedented power move on the part of the Black Community in Brooklyn, the members of Flatbush Community just filed a lawsuit and got a Temporary Restraining Order, stopping Mayor Mamdani’s administration from opening the 130 men mentally Ill and chemically addicted shelter located at Red Roof Inn, across the street from Kings Theater on Flatbush Ave.

For decades Black communities in Brooklyn have borne the brunt of most of the shelters, and supportive housing without any additional support, Fair Share analysis, or even having our voices heard.

However, this is the first time that not one but two lawsuits have been filed against the Mayor with demands for equality, transparency, and for other communities to do their share in sharing the burden of the homeless crisis, and to put a spotlight on the Hotel to Shelter Scam that is sweeping across the city!

Our cases have been placed together under Judge Lisa Lewis who had denied our TRO which the 2nd Department overturned and granted us the TRO.

Flatbush’s TRO was signed by Judge Levine, in the late afternoon on Friday, June 12, 2026!
