Cornell Resubmitted
Its Rezoning Application
Update
After the successful campaign to stop Continuum from building 480 foot tall towers in the height limited zone of 60 ft on Franklin Ave in Brooklyn along the Brooklyn Botanic Garden “BBG”, developers sued each other and Cornell brought back the Spice Factory Land from Continuum. (Cornell was the mastermind behind the idea of developing along the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.)
Cornell resubmitted a new rezoning application in June of 2023, to build a 14 story building where the Spice Factory is. The new application is proposing a drastic reduction in heights and a smaller area from the previous one, but the Department of City Planning has stated that it will still cause negative Environmental Impacts to Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Thus, there is a “Scoping Hearing” that has been planned to hear from the community, residents and of course the Brooklyn Botanic Garden regarding proposed negative environmental impacts on BBG.
