Before You Head To the Polls!!!

Consider Our Choices!

Disclaimer

MTOPP has investigated a lot of the candidates, did intensive research on  “Follow the Money” via the Campaign Finance Board and met several times to figure out these choices.

This is probably the most difficult election in NYC’s history, not only because for the first time people should choose more than one candidate but the stakes are high, in this very anti-real estate and anti-police environment.

The Mayoral races are filled with top contenders who are taking big real estate money and have a very pro-police stance.  This has filtered all the way down to the local City Council races.

But we worked hard, had many debates, forums and discussions on strategies.
We did however, find candidates that should never be considered in any rank choice option.

For example, Borough President Eric Adams, taking big time real estate money (the most out of all the candidates), is a former Police Captain, been endorsed by the New York City Police Benefit Association, has used the police to suppress and harass residents in our community and he wants to bring back “stop and frisk”.  He is a no brainer, No Vote/No Rank Choice.  He should not get onto your ballot!

Update:
If you want more dirt on Eric Adams and what he has done to push for real estate development in our community and how he used Community Board 9 to try to get a massive rezoning in our community.  Please go to www.mtopp.org and look at the older emails about  Community Board 9 that he created and continued to support! Remember that Borough Presidents choose the board members of a community board, thus the board represents their values and goals!

However others fall into grey areas and thus you may not agree with some of our choices, but we are dealing with the hand that we have and are choosing the least worst or strategizing about not getting candidates who are in the lead to win!

Our advice is strongest at the local City Council level when it comes to choices, not only because others in these districts have been doing their due diligence and screening the candidates but a lot of candidates are not heavily reliant upon big Real Estate.  However there are exception to this as well.

For example, in the local City Council District 35, (currently Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo district), Laurie’s protégé, Crystal Hudson has gotten a lot of money from Real Estate connected people including Open New York who has been pushing rezoning in other communities.   It is clear that Crystal Hudson should not be anyone’s choice!

We also strongly suggest that you use all of your five choices!  And never put someone that you know clearly goes against your values onto your choice.  It is better to simply put someone else there.

Still Undecided
If you are still undecided then wait, you still have time to vote.  Information about candidates are coming everyday from both sides of the aisle.  Pay close attention to Ads that are controlled by PACs, either pro or con.  These PAC are strong pro-development, pro-police.  See who they are targeting, see who they are supporting.  If there are two candidates in the lead and they are doing anti-campaigns against one of the candidates then you should support that candidate!

Also check the Campaign Finance Board and look at the Independent Expenditures, now rearing its ugly head!  Again these are PAC, which a lot of money supporting candidates that will do the PAC’s bidding once they are in office.  If a candidate is getting support from these PACs, then they should not be getting onto your ballot as a choice.

Update: Literally the day before the start of early election voting a known PAC for real estate “Common Sense NYC,” spent almost a million dollars on negative campaign fliers for several of our choices. This includes Michael Hollingsworth, Christopher Marte, and John Choe.  This shows you that we are on the right track!

We will continue to update and inform you as the election gets closer to it final day.

We wish you good luck and guidance in your choices.

2021 NYC Election – MTOPP’s Ranking Choices

Mayor Top Five:
Our strategy is to keep Eric Adams from being elected because he’s pro-corruption, pro-police and pro-development.  Got endorsed by NYC Police Benevolent Association and wants to bring back “Stop and Frisk”.   Also had heavy campaign against community residents using the Police to harass, arrest and suppress.

Top Five – It’s time for a woman to be in charge.

  1. Maya Wiley
  2. Dianne Morales
  3. Kathryn Garcia
  4. Andrew Yang
  5. Scott Stringer

Comptroller
The Office of the Comptroller has a staff of approximately 800 people and is mainly responsible for audits and overseeing how city agencies spend their money, reviewing city contracts, managing the city’s public pension funds and issuing bonds to help pay for large projects. The Comptroller is second in line of succession to the mayor but needs someone in the position who is interested in and satisfied with being the Comptroller.

Top Five

  1. Brian Benjamin
  2. Teri Liftin
  3. Michelle Caruso-Cabrera
  4. Kevin Parker
  5. David Weprin

(No to Brad Landers who sold out Gowanus in their rezoning fight and Corey Johnson, who is simply using this as a stepping stone and punished City Council people who wanted to take money from the Police Department.)

Brooklyn Borough President

  • Antonio Reynoso (Fought against rezoning in his district and just recently shut down a rezoning plan)
  • Joann Simon – Activist and consistent voice against large scale development.
  • Robert Cornegy (Protected his district from significant rezonings)
  • Kimberly Council
  • Khari Edwards

City Council Races
District 35

  1. Michael Hollingsworth
  2. Curtis Harris
  3. Regina Kinsey
  4. Hector Robinson
  5. Deirdre Levy

We have completely eliminated Crystal Hudson because she is getting lots of money from folks related to the real estate industry.  Crystal was Laurie Cumbo’s staff member and her Treasurer when Laurie ran for office the second time.  Finally, Crystal is already getting PAC money in the form of Independent Expenditures, the same PACs that gave to Laurie.  Currently there are negative ads against Michael Hollingsworth being paid for by an Real Estate Industry PAC who supports Crystal Hudson.  Expect more to come as the race gets closer to the finish line!

Update:  The money is now coming in for Crystal Hudson under independent expenditures.  The same PAC “Empire State 32BJ”  who supported Coucilwoman Laurie Cumbo is supporting Crystal Hudson and has spend over $50,000!
Also Hudson has gotten support from Hotel Workers, same folks that also supported Laurie Cumbo.  They have currently spent over $100,000 on Crystal.
But then we predicted that at the end of this race the wolves would start coming out!

District 36

  1. Chi Osse
  2. Robert Waterman
  3. Tahirah Moore
  4. Henry Butler
  5. Jason Walker

District 40

  1. Rita Joseph
  2. Vivia Morgan
  3. Blake Morris
  4. Cecilia Cortez
  5. Kenya Handy-Hilliard

Update: Please note we moved Kenya down our list when we found out that she lied about her job title on one of her mailers.  Lying before you are in office is a sure sign that you will continue to do so once you are in.

We completely eliminated Edwin Raymond (Edreweene Raymond) for the following reasons.

  1. Changed his name from Edreweene Raymond to Edwin Raymond in 2020 right before running. (We assumed it was to hide his police brutality charges)
  2. A lawsuit that was substantiated was brought against  Edreweene Raymond (now running as Edwin Raymond) for police brutality!  Bond v City of New York Docket # 1:11-cv-03164-BMC
  3. Almost 60% of his donations come from outside of NYC and from all over the United States, showing that he is getting support from some big national organization.
  4. Lived at 900 Lenox Rd. Apt 5-G in the heart of East New York, District 41 not District 40!
  5. He lied about where he was living and where he has lived.
  6. Police all over the Country, including NYC police are supporting him.
  7. The Media has continued to spot light him as person who took the police to task for their quota system when in fact (if anyone were to bother to read the lawsuit), it was because he wanted to get a higher position within the police force and they were using his inability to maintain his quota requirement not to promote him. However, he did get promoted. Case: Raymond v. The City of New York  – Docket No. 15-CV-6885 (LTS)

We also didn’t support Josue Pierre, for he is implicated in unlawful behavior with the Democratic Club.  And we have enough corruption! Case: Jordan v. Pierre Docket No. 1:18-CV-08528- JGK

The rest of the City Council Districts we present here are based upon forums that we have produced and recommendations from grassroots organizations in the community struggling with re-zoning issues.  We are simply choosing the best known candidates and we suggest that reach out to organizations in your community for further input regarding the other four choices.

Or better yet, do your own research and find out at least who is getting PAC money (they should automatically not get your vote) and where their donations are coming from etc.  Go to the Campaign Finance Board and search for your district etc…
