MTOPP and FLAC will be conducting a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 7pm. Against the 960 Franklin Ave Rezoning proposal “The Monster”. (See “Further Update” below ) The main presenter is Thomas Angotti Professor Emeritus of Urban Policy and Planning at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York.
He is a well known educator and author of several books on zoning the latest and most well known is Zoned Out! Race and Displacement and City Planning in New York City. He has also worked for the Department of City Planning “DCP” and thus has a working knowledge of this agency’s polices, procedures and protocols.
Professor Angotti will explain the basic concepts of zoning and the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure “ULURP” its promises and pitfalls.
There will be a discussion regarding some the Department of City Planning’s Findings regarding the Brooklyn Botanic Garden negative environmental consequences, the new lawsuit and a substantial Q & A to educate and answer questions. At the end there will be concrete actions a person can take and way to join the resistance.
