MTOPP Speaks Out About Upcoming Elections!
MTOPP, as some may know has kept its eye on elected officials; their actions in the community, their voting records and their public statements. So here are our thoughts on the election.
Assemblyman Walter Mosley Must Go!

If you love the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and your community, then Assemblyman Walter Mosley must go.  He put out a half a page ad in a local paper supporting the largest residential development project going up along the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.  The same project that an internal memo obtained from the NYC Parks Department, stated was going to harm BBG.

Assemblyman Walter Mosley’s  support is based upon the 50 % “affordable” units being proposed, completing ignoring the fact that the target population for the affordable is for people making $115,000 average medium income in a community that has $40,000 average medium income!

We have to get rid of these politicians who continue to push big real estate development projects and hide behind the scam of affordable housing.

Assemblywoman Diana Richardson

When Diana first got to the Assembly she was a mess; getting arrested for beating her childcursing out the Speaker the Assembly in public and failing to pass legislation. However, since hooking up with the Senator Myrie she has avoided any new public scandals and seems to be playing ball with the big boys, but not necessarily in our favor .

She also got pepper sprayed during a recent protest. Where was Assemblyman Mosley? Who knows? Maybe hiding behind his mother?

It also appears her election race has gotten pretty nasty with Diana’s supporters being very disrespectful to a senior.  We were outraged at the venom and disrespect that was done to a senior who was simply insisting upon one’s right to challenge an incumbent.

State Senator Montgomery Seat Is Open
Senator Montgomery is leaving and thus her seat if up for grabs.
Please check out the Debate being hosted tonight,
Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 7 pm on NY1.
Being able to hear the candidates and their platform should help in making a decision.
We are familiar with Jabari Brisport, because he has been around speaking on behalf of the community residents for the past several years.  The other ones we do not know.
Democratic Primary Election
As some of you may know we almost lost the right to vote in the Democratic Primary. The New York State Board of Elections wanted to strip the people of this opportunity to get Bernie Sander’s and Andrew Yang’s delegates to be a part of the Democratic National Convention.  These delegates influence who will be chosen for Vice-President and the direction the Democratic Party will take.  This fight was about power and the people won!  Now it is the time to exercise that power!

We wanted to give a shout out to *Jonathan Wallace who was on this unprecedented historic lawsuit  “Andrew Yang vs. Peter S Kosinsky“, this spring which won both in the lower Federal Court and the Untied State Court of Appeal for the Second Circuit, preserving our rights to be able to have a Democratic Primary Election in New York State.

*Jonathan Wallace defended Alicia Boyd when she got arrested and was facing criminal charges with the prospect of doing one year in jail for snatching a piece a paper during a Community board meeting which was voting to do a district wide rezoning.
Congress
If Chaim M. Deutsch is elected for Congress, that would be a nightmare for us.  He sent out one of the most racist ads, instilling fear and racial divides
If he is willing to do all of that to get into office just image what he will do once he is in.  At this moment of great change, we don’t need division and racial hatred to be representing us. His strategy is to divide the Black vote between Adem and Clarke and get the Jewish and White vote to win.  It is important that we send a clear message that racial division is not the way to win an election!
Candidates for Party Position
As you may know some very underhanded stuff went on regarding District Leaders in Community Board 9.  So it is important to support candidates who are fighting hard to dismantle and challenge the direction Democratic leadership is going. Jason Stevan Hill and Volney Joseph have done a wonderful job at doing just!
