Further Disempowerment of City Council
One thing that most people don’t know is that a person who has power/control over issues, normally has others pulling their strings, and in order to compensate they in turn need to feel powerful to elements they view as under them.
This is Mayor Eric Adams as he commences with his agenda to disempower the City Council in favor of the real estate industry. He has now commenced a City Charter Revision, the second of his term, to do just that.
We all know he is controlled by the real estate industry that continues to push for him to remain as Mayor despite: (1) his administration being in shambles; (2) criminal charges being brought against him and his close allies; (3) potential 10 million dollar campaign deficit; (4) being denied matching funds of up to 4 million dollar; (5) using most of the money he has raised to pay his legal costs, which is currently in the red; (6) and his low campaign contributions.

Of course the City Council shares in the blame for this, for how could anyone not expect Eric Adams to continue in his role as “the real estate Mayor”. Did they forget he said, “I am the real estate!” It was clear and in writing – to do away with the City Council deference in regards to rezoning applications via a City Charter revision. And now as he is burning and going down in history as the most corrupt Mayor of New York City, he wants to fulfill their last wish!
