MTOPP and FLAC will be conducting a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on <\/span>Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 7pm<\/strong>. Against the 960 Franklin Ave Rezoning proposal “The Monster”. \u00a0(See “Further Update” below ) \u00a0The main presenter is <\/span>Thomas Angotti <\/span><\/a>Professor Emeritus of Urban Policy and Planning at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0He is a well known educator and author of several books on zoning the latest and most well known is\u00a0<\/span>Zoned Out!\u00a0<\/strong>Race and Displacement and City Planning in New York City<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0He has also worked for the Department of City Planning “DCP” and thus has a working knowledge of this agency\u2019s polices, procedures and protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Professor Angotti <\/span>will explain the basic concepts of zoning<\/strong> and the <\/span>Uniform Land Use Review Procedure \u201cULURP\u201d<\/strong> its promises and pitfalls.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be a discussion regarding some the Department of City Planning’s Findings regarding the Brooklyn Botanic Garden negative environmental consequences, the new lawsuit and a substantial Q & A<\/strong> to educate and answer questions<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0At the end there will be concrete actions a person <\/strong>can take and way to join the resistance.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>
