Our Fight Just Got Stronger!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In an\u00a0<\/span>unprecedented power move<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>on the part of the Black Community in Brooklyn, the members of Flatbush Community just filed a lawsuit and got a Temporary Restraining Order, stopping\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Mayor Mamdani’s administration from\u00a0<\/span>opening the 130 men mentally Ill and chemically addicted shelter located at Red Roof Inn,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>across the street from Kings Theater on Flatbush Ave.<\/p>\n

For decades Black communities in Brooklyn have\u00a0<\/span>borne the brunt of most of the shelters, and supportive housing without any additional support, Fair Share analysis<\/strong>, or even having our voices heard.<\/p>\n

However, this is the first time that not one but\u00a0<\/span>two lawsuits have been filed against the Mayor\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>with demands for equality, transparency, and for other communities to do their share in sharing the burden of the homeless crisis, and to put a\u00a0<\/span>spotlight on the Hotel to Shelter Scam<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>that is sweeping across the city!<\/p>\n

Our cases have been placed together under\u00a0<\/span>Judge Lisa Lewis\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>who had denied our TRO which the\u00a02nd Department overturned\u00a0and granted us the TRO.<\/p>\n

Flatbush’s TRO was signed by Judge Levine, in the late afternoon on Friday, June 12, 2026!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
