Town Hall On City of Yes Hosted By
\nWBAI,\u00a0 MTOPP and FLAC<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past several months, New Yorkers have been bombarded with Mayor Eric Adams\u2019 \u201cCity of Yes.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 There have been opinion pages, statements by elected officials, TV news hosts etc. all pushing for a “build baby built model” in every part of the city<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the obvious aid of <\/strong>Frank Carone,<\/strong><\/a> a developer\u2019s lawyer, who is\u00a0<\/strong>Mayor Eric Adams chief of staff<\/strong><\/a>, a whole host of deregulation proposals for development projects<\/strong> have been presented to the public.\u00a0 Starting with names like Blast<\/strong>, Gets Stuff Done<\/strong>, Get Stuff Built,<\/strong> and Text Amendments <\/strong>etc..<\/span><\/p>\n

The main emphasis is to cut the \u201cred tape<\/strong>\u201d and allow more projects to be built cheaper and faster<\/strong>. The rationale: If the City cuts costs <\/strong>for developers and makes it faster for them to build that somehow these added benefits will trickle down to the creation of housing that the average New Yorker can afford.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the\u00a0first in a series of Town Halls<\/strong>\u00a0to understand exactly what these proposals are really trying to do<\/strong>, how can they be accomplished,<\/strong> their effects <\/strong>and the type of input the residents in this city have<\/strong>. We will also be looking closer at the Text Amendments <\/strong>that have been presented to the public this past fall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
